What it does
Image To 3dMesh ReconstructionSurface ReconstructionGaussian Splatting
The official repository installs from source with CUDA 11.8, 12.1 or 12.4 environment files and compiled CUDA extensions. The model card reports H100 costs of about 8.5 GiB VRAM for plain point reconstruction and about 14 GiB for guided mesh reconstruction, so LocalClaw records 16 GB NVIDIA VRAM and 32 GB RAM as the conservative local floor.
Hardware figures are practical entry floors, not performance guarantees. Resolution, duration, precision, offloading and runtime versions can materially change memory use.
Strengths
- Official code and Hugging Face checkpoint
- Unposed 2-80 view reconstruction
- Exports PLY point clouds and optional meshes
Limits to know
- Non-commercial research license inherited from VGGT and Gaussian Splatting components
- Requires source install with compiled CUDA extensions
- Specialized for static scene/object surface reconstruction rather than text-to-3D generation
